Kyoto/London − This year, Kyocera will once again be showcasing its wide range of products at The Advanced Ceramics Show 2023 (Stand 1604), an exhibition and conference bringing together a highly focused audience from industry, academia and commercial R&D involved in the latest technical ceramic solutions. The company’s divisions’ focus is on several topics: the construction of a new smart plant producing semiconductor parts in Isahaya, Nagasaki, Japan, the consolidation of Kyocera’s fine ceramics business in Europe and a newly developed Silicon nitride igniter for residential gas boilers. Additionally, the company presents its full scope of ceramic components during the show.

Kyocera’s product range at The Advanced Ceramics Show 2023

At the exhibition and conference, Kyocera will be represented by several product categories:
1. Semiconductor components
2. Fine ceramic components (KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH)
3. Automotive components

1. Semiconductor components

Due to the fact that the demand for semiconductor components is expected to keep rising alongside trends like miniaturization, advancing semiconductor technology, the growing functionality of smartphones and other communication devices, the expansion of 5G base stations and data centres as well as the proliferation of new automotive innovations including ADAS and EV, Kyocera recently acquired a construction site of about 15 hectares at the Minami Isahaya Industrial Park in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Following the start of construction in 2023, production is scheduled to begin in 2026. By building its new smart factory, Kyocera will also contribute to the local community by creating new employment opportunities.

2. Fine ceramic components (KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH)

As the next step in the company’s long-term growth strategy, Kyocera consolidated its existing fine ceramics business into the new KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH in April 2023. In doing so, the fine ceramics units as well as the production sites in Mannheim and Selb were combined in an independent company under the roof of KYOCERA Europe GmbH. Furthermore, the fine ceramics division of KYOCERA Europe GmbH and its employees were also integrated into KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH. The background of the restructuring is the growing European sales market for high-performance ceramics components. Headquartered in Mannheim, KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH contains two production sites in Mannheim and Selb as well as four sales offices in Esslingen, Neuss, Mannheim and Selb with additional fine ceramics sales offices in UK and France. The consolidation of Kyocera’s European fine ceramics business brings along several benefits for all customers like an higher focus on customer relationship and the supply chain from Europe for European customers or the improved cooperation with R&D and product and application development teams based in Europe.

3. Automotive components

Kyocera’s aim is to develop responsible innovations making the world easier and saver. One of those products is the long life 230V Silicon nitride igniter for residential gas boilers. Due to its composition, the product quickly heats up to more than 1,000 degrees Celsius and smoothly sparks off natural gas as well as H2-admixtures up to 100%. Additionally, it has a wider hot surface and enables a very stable ignition performance showing no degradation which gives customers an easier control over the heating system. The igniter was specially developed in order to be used as a replacement part for hot-surface-igniters from other manufacturers.
